Having Twins at 30 Weeks….?

My SIL is about to have her twins via c-section at 30 weeks. She’s in great care and I know the survival rate is around 98% but does anyone know what other long term problems they might experience?
She’s 39 and has suffered multiple miscarriages. Now one of the babies is not getting proper nutrients in the womb. She’s been in the hospital since New Year’s Eve and they’ve decided things are getting worse in the womb so they are taking the babies.

it will depend on how they do once they are born… if they need to be intubated and have a machine breathe for them then there are chances of long term lung damage, if they have apnea spells there is a potential they may come home on monitors for a period of time, there is a chance of developmental delays, bleeding in the brain leading to learning disabilities, feeding issues, if the baby cannot learn to feed from a bottle some preemies come home on feeding tubes, and there is an increased instance of sensory issues in preemies. but overall the main concern will be developmental delays. I had twins at 29 weeks, was lucky they only needed cpap oxygen masks and no intubation, one had tons of apnea and came home at 8 weeks on a monitor until 6 mos old for the apnea spells, he was not delayed at all and is an incredibly smart toddler, my other had some non related medical issues and she has had a lot of developmental obstacles to overcome. As the twins get older make sure she knows to watch how they are developing developmentally, if there are delays to contact an early intervention program to get therapies and help to catch the kids up so they will no longer be delayed. Also both my kids have sensory issues, one is very sensative to loud sounds and anything loud still scares him, the other has a sensory processing disorder and has had issues with balance and coordination both related to being a preemie. if you have any other questions would be glad to help …feel free to email me
