The north face of the mountains of Phuket rising price of the room?

Having stayed at a hotel in Patong recently and hear about a recent trip a fellow traveler, I made me realize how little people (tourists) know about the island here. Here is a brief excerpt of their walk.

[It's much cooler now at this point 480M or so, walked north from here, my GPS read Y3, there were 3 ways to choose between the 3 and tried at first until I finally decided it was heading west. Then I got to a place where I could see that the next hill was completely thick with brush that covers everything. I tried 3 more routes, but all were too thick to pass. Then I spent an hour looking for a way, my pace of work paid off and finally found a small cut in the east and began to follow. Then it was over (the track) and all I knew was that it would have to go back and east to another road (that was possible) with the exception of a large ravine in the middle. As I walked around I notice a large fallen tree expansion of the ravine and thought I could walk through it. As I carefully step slowly through the wing-style string, I suddenly realized that it had rained the previous day and This registry is very slippery. Halfway through I was 2 meters and landed on my back in the water. I stood there stunned all the time wondering why are not I stay in a hotel, enjoying the pool at the hotel or restaurant in a place like Patong. Then I remembered. When I'm on the road there is nowhere else I'd rather be, bushwhacking course is hard, very hard. But when I find good trails take you through jungles and rubber plantations to some of the most amazing views, I say it all worth it. All we need do now is wait until someone starts to build new roads, at any rate if they do, it would be surprising to Phuket Patong. Many other tourists would leave their hotel rooms and hiking too. It baffles me sometimes when I think of the tourists only stay in the rooms hotels and restaurants in Patong, and not seeing the real Thailand. Any way back to the story ...]

After hearing this story made me feel like going and also do some real hiking. Although I felt very inadequate in reality, me in my Hawaiian shirt and floppy sandals, sitting in the hotel bar poolside, and such, Indiana Jones tells me his story of Dare and danger. But I suppose at the end of the day, we can not all be adventurous, some of us can only survive in the luxury of staying in our hotel rooms in Patong, views, huge, service, pretty good rates, reasonable. What else can ask for when it comes to holiday in the sun. One final note from my friend from Indiana

[Of course, my wife thinks I'm absolutely nuts, I love adventure, the walk, but always come back covered with scratches and bruises and dehydration].

Rather than kill me, not you me!
