Anyone knows a thing or two about C4 plants?

Bio I have this question ……. can not really find anything in my book or the Internet on the issue. Here it is: A plant C4 has a strange but expensive method of energy from photosynthesis. Maize is a C4 plant. Discuss how a plant strategy C4 is a great survival mechanism for the plant. Any Ideas? I'll give best answer to the best! Thanks:)

A C4 plant is best suited to a plant C3 in an environment with high daytime temperatures, intense sunlight, drought, or nitrogen or limitation of CO2. Most C4 plants have an anatomy special leaf (called Kranz anatomy), in which the vascular bundles are surrounded by bundle sheath cells. After fixation of CO2 in a four-carbon compound mesophyll cells, this compound is transported to bundle sheath cells where CO2 is decarboxylated and re-set by the C3 pathway. The enzyme involved in this process is PEP carboxylase. In this mechanism, the tendency of Rubisco (the first enzyme in the Calvin cycle) to photorespire, or waste energy by using oxygen to break down carbon compounds CO2, is minimized.
