Planet Survival

No doubt about it. Surfing is one of the most thrilling and exciting sports on the planet. Anytime you are moving in unison with one of the forces nature, there will be something exciting about it. One additional benefit is that the surf will also join a family atmosphere. There is a special type of link among surfers that exists in other sports. While this may seem large, there are some things you need to know before heading out to catch a few breaks. Not only will your stay more enjoyable, but these simple tips can also save your life.
The first thing you need to do before surfing is your ability to swim. For example, you're a casual swimmer, who has only swum in pools and lakes? Or are you a person who has been swimming in the sea often and is only now taking an interest in surfing? If the latter, then you probably have a pretty good idea of the strength of ocean currents and strong currents. If the former, then you should seriously get used to swimming in the ocean before surfing.
If you think you are ready to start surfing, make sure your board has a safety strap. This can help in many ways. One of those ways is if they get stuck in a stream and the need swimming along the coast to get out. Having the board will help you avoid fatigue. If you hit a rock or reef beneath the surface and go unconscious, that the Board stuck your body will also help others to spot you. This is also good reason to swim alone. Having a partner always increase your chances of survival if something goes wrong.
Beware the slow murderer, who is the sun. Always wear sunscreen and a full body wetsuit if possible. If you're like most surfers, going to be out there for hours, not minutes. It is important to be protected.
