BREAST CANCER AT STAGE THREE?

A friend of mine is suffering it,being diagnosed by doctors last october. She opted for total vegetarian diet and other alternative medications. At 47 she has no children and her late mum died of ovarian cancer at 72.
WHAT IS THE CHANCE OF SURVIVAL? or WHAT SHOULD BE DONE. Please, i need your advise. I am damn worried for her.

From http://www.imaginis.com/breasthealth/staging.asp
Regarding breast adenocarcinoma
Stage / 5-year Relative Survival Rate
I 100%
IIA 92%
IIB 81%
IIIA 67%
IIIB 54%
IV 20%

These survivals are based on optimal treatment.
Since you write “mum,” my guess is that you are talking about a person in Britain where there is national health care. Why would she not obtain modern medical care? She might survive with diet and alternative medicine, but her chances are better with our latest advances in oncology care. The major deterrent to advanced care here in the U.S. is expense. Makes me wonder if people in Britain can receive top care on national health insurance including the very expensive Herceptin if she is HER2neu positive. I’m sure she could obtain an estrogen blocker such as tamoxifen on the national health program if her malignancy is estrogen receptor positive, but she might also need chemotherapy such as Cytoxan, Adriamycin, and Taxol to help decrease her chances of developing stage IV (widespread) breast cancer which is then not curable.
