survival questions

You are in the mortgage origination business in one of the toughest environments of mortgages for buyers who have seen in a long time. As toughen standards credit and financial markets facing losses and bad press, its ability to build trust, help understand the homebuyer and fewer options for change, and obtain affordable mortgage has never been more critical. How mortgage originators not only survive in this market, but also achieve new levels of success? Now is the time to reflect on how to adopt new strategies and tactics to ensure that it can be as successful as possible.

Three key questions
To help achieve new approaches and new ideas, let's use the power of self-reflection and assessment to provide a current perspective origination business mortgage. Please take a moment to answer three key questions below before reading the text that follows them:

  1. What business are you?
  2. What are you doing, so that's helping you succeed today?
  3. What has to change to achieve greater success?

What business are you?

This question should elicit a response focused on the client and not a technical answer. If your answer, I'm in the business of the relationship, or a similar response as customer service, the company American Dream, which is customer-focused. Your answers to "talk" from a customer perspective. If your answer is that I'm in the mortgage business, or the same response with a focus on their products, which is focused on the product with a more technical perspective.

His view, if the client or the concentrated product is more important today these days than ever before. However, when you are focused on the customer, to build and foster trust. Buyers today need you to have their needs and struggles in his mind as he helps them. They want you to understand and consider their objectives, values and priorities before offering a mortgage option.

What are you doing?

Time to test yourself and really know what's working for you. You should be able to cite at least five forces that are helping them succeed in this market. For example, an issuer of mortgages I interviewed answered this question as follows:

  1. I follow most often in all my potential customers.
  2. I am taking the time to meet the needs of my business partners reference.
  3. I have joined groups more professional networking to build my presence.
  4. I'm re-thinking how solutions to my niche market and creating new strategies.
  5. I'm sharpening my ability to create dialogue with shoppers and listen more carefully.

What needs to change to create More success?

This question is difficult because it requires a thorough knowledge of what works and what does not work and sometimes have a blind spot we only see our limitations. Remember, this question is not about how bad the market or your business is about you and what they could do better or differently to change the results. This is what I often hear when I ask mortgage originators to this question:

  1. I need a better management of time.
  2. I need to know what to say to a buyer who says, "I'm not interested in his choice."
  3. I have to ask questions more keen to understand the needs.
  4. I need to be more persistent.
  5. I do not know what I have to change.

The last answer is both sad and circumspect. The sad truth is that many people do not know what to change. In this case, it is essential to get the perspective of another person. I recommend asking colleagues, customers, partners, reference, and sales managers for assistance. Ask them to provide information about what they see on your sales process and skills. Ask about the strengths and areas for improvement. When you hear something you disagree with, not defense, but thanks to everyone who gives feedback.

There will always be difficult times and the change in the mortgage industry, is part of the package, so to speak. As the initiator of mortgage you only have control over their process, activities and competitions. The important thing is sure they are increasingly adapting to change. Use the three key issues as a tool to improve their game and create your business.
