Fortunately, however, there are solutions to the communication of participation differences in the growing number of workers with limited-English proficient (LEP) and abilities.
In fact, I think you can take what might be perceived as a major problem and transform it into a valuable resource. This resource is a group of workers who will remain in their jobs and can potentially work their way into the organization as their skills and increase language skills.
When I started the workplace teaching of Spanish to English corporate overseers speak, I used the methods used to me, the traditional language of emphasis on teaching grammar and writing. Was clear to me that these programs were not cost effective or efficient. Do not do much to help both workers and managers to solve the problems encountered in their workplaces without a long-term commitment that most people had no resources or time to invest.
I found that managers of the teaching of basic phrases in "survival Spanish" (or other languages) that were specific to their needs, not only helps make the work, but gave rise to workers who feel more respected and motivated. For workers in LEP, specific work-based learning of English, not only allowed them to improve their productivity, but gave them hope for future progress. In all cases, improve relationships and there was less tension in the workplace.
I also found the need to develop a series of industry-specific tools bilingual education. With input from industry experts of our company started to create brochures language pocket survival that contain the phrase or the application in the language along with the phonetics for pronunciation easy.
My advice, then, as a professional coach language is the following:
First, take stock of their needs.
• What existing language barriers in your business? What cultural groups are trying?
• What are your employment goals specific communication? What are your specific problem areas?
If you are looking to improve communication with LEP workers, for instruction that addresses the needs of your workplace. A growing organizations and companies that specialize in adapting the language and cultural education to the specific needs of the working environment. Looking for resources can build an industry specific software and, more importantly, the needs of your business.
With proper choice of the training program, managers can learn enough language and cultural diversity councils in a one-day seminar to help them begin to close communication gaps in their club. Depending on your needs, programs can include a day, a few days or a few weeks. Remember this: you do not have to spend months and years of time and expense to better communicate with their Spanish (or other LEP) workers.
Effective communication has always been the key to good management. Now with a growing need to connect with workers other cultures, the need is even greater, both for managers and employees to educate themselves so of each act and speak. However, the rewards are potentially great whether the methods used to educate both parties thereto are adequate. Success does not necessarily take a lot of time, it requires proper training.
