good job on the old id old…try this one?

A lead scientist is gathering samples in the Sahara Desert. She has a six-day trek planned across completely barren territory. The lead scientist has assistant scientists who have accompanied her to Africa. For this portion of the expedition, the assistants will help her make her trek by carrying additional food and water, and then turning back if necessary to their survival. She and the available scientists can each only carry enough food and water to last one person four days. With how few assistants can the lead scientist depart with in order for her to make the six-day trek without anyone on the expedition dying due to lack of food or water?

She can make the trip with only 2 assistants.
At the end of the first day, one assistant will hand over 1 days food and water to the scientist and the other assistant, leaving them with enough to return safely.
At the end of the second day, the other assistant gives 1 days rations to the scientist, giving her 4 days worth, and just enough to make it the rest of the way alone.
