Child sex abuse in foreign countries?

I recently saw a t.v. show about a Dr. from the mid west who would go to Cambodia to have sex with young girls 10-12 y.o.I shared this with a friend who felt that maybe it was not as bad as we thought since the options to make money over there is very limited and perhaps this is the only way they can make any money. So the question is How can we say it’s so bad when we do nothing to alleviate the problem and would the long term mental issues out weigh the near term survival issues. Also what would the long term issues be any way?

I thought we may have learned from Afghanistan & Iraq that we in the west should not go around sticking our nose directly into other countries business.

If what you say is right, if people sell their children because there is such limited employment opportunities, then the solution is to create employment. Now that’s a big ask as us in the west are not able to do that for our self, so what hope is there of us doing it for other. none.

By the way. Child abuse is very common in western countries. Here in Australia 1 in 4 girls & 1 in 8 boys are abused. So on top of us fixing the unemployment problem maybe we should first fix our own sexual misbehaviour’s.

One last point.
How would you feel if a representative of the Cambodian government was to come to your country and tell you government they are bad people for not acting, and this is how to fix your child abuse problems.
