Considering the Christian heritage of the British,why did do so much to favor the Arabs when leaving Palestine?
Of course, I’m referring to post-WWII when the British abandoned their fortifications in the Holy Land and turned them over to the Arab fortresses that were hostile to the survival of the Jewish refugee settlements.
Many have pointed out that Christian views of Biblical Israel has set the stage for American support for Israel. So why didn’t the Christian heritage of the UK lead to more British favor toward the Jews returning to the Holy Land in those days?
You got your information backwards. It was Britain that gave the Balfour declaration and allowed massive jewish immigration to Palestine. It was the British that did not allow the Arabs to arm themselves. Arabs who were caught having weapons received the death penalty. It was the British who turned a blind eye to organized military Zionist militias (such as the Haganah). The British turned over their military camps to the Zionists, not the Arabs. The British turned their backs to the Arabs (both Muslim and Christian) in favor of the Zionists.
